Este Poder
Este Poder is a non-partisan nonprofit cultivating a culture of civic engagement by empowering, educating, and mobilizing rural East Texas communities of color. Their main goal is to educate their community about the power of voting. They regularly host events for voter registration and educational workshops for upcoming voters.
Fighting voter apathy within minority groups is very close issue to my heart and I was more than happy to work for an organization that is committed to changing this narrative.

Previous Branding Efforts
After several rebranding efforts, the goal of this project was to bring together items from their established brand and make it into a modern logo that is more familiar with their user base. It was important to keep the Texas icon incorporated into their branding because it was the most recognizable visual to their community members.

Typography & Visuals
Este Poder was inspired by groovy/funky fonts and almost psychedelic patterns. A "modern" look was not desired, but a unique, eye-catching compact look that would reflect their energy and community. We tried several iterations of 70's typography before landing on a "bubbly" type font. Pine trees were also an important visual to include due to the prominence of pine trees in East Texas. During this project, I learned this area is also known as "tiny pine".

In addition to the graphic work, Este Poder's website got a facelift to prepare for the upcoming voting season.
Este Poder's website was limited in describing their work and showing off the impact they have in their community. With this redesign, we really wanted to expand on the resources they have available to the community as well as telling their story. Working together, we created an outline and layout for their new website. Two concepts were pitched and we ended up marrying the two designs together for the final concept.
